Moscow Flyer – Signed Series

Mrs John Harrington, better know as Jessica, had the honour, or should i say responsibility, to train one of the most iconic horses of the modern era of National Hunt racing. I don’t think that this is an overstatement, and no one could have forseen the amazing career that Moscow Flyer would embark upon. His presence at the Cheltenham Festival was many racegoers highlight of the entire 3 days, as it was then. He ran 45 times in total, winning 27 races and winning well over £1 million in prize money. Between the 27th of April 2001 and the 8th of April 2005, that’s nearly 4 years, he won every race he finished. He fell twice , was unseated rider three times and won 20 races during that period, which included an Arkle Chase at the Festival, two Queen Mother Champion Chases and two Tingle Creeks, and that was just this side of the Irish Sea. It was commonly quoted that if he stood up, he won, it was as simple as that. His amazing record of victories was even more impressive when you look at the opposition he had to beat, horses like Azertyuiop, Well Chief, Flagship Uberalles, Native Upmanship, Cenkos and Edredon Bleu to name a few. Our race photo captures the moment that the ever green 11 year old, Moscow Flyer soared over the last, on his way to his second victory in the 2005 Queen Mother Champion Chase, and his third Festival victory. It was to be his last win at the Festival, he did return 12 months on, but at 12 years old it was even too much for the mighty Moscow Flyer. Race horses like the “Flyer” are rare gifts and should always be remembered.
